Types of shots/angles

Extreme wide Shot

An act to help to establish an area, the picture above shows our location- Thamesmead.

Medium Shot

Allows the capture of gesture and motion.

Medium Close up
Shows the subject in more detail and framed from the shoulders up. This particular shot can be used to convey emotion. There is space for hand gestures to be seen and the setting can still be seen.

Close up
A picture which shows a fairly small part of the scene, such as a character's face, in great detail so that it fills the screen. It abstracts the subject from a context. Close-ups focus attention on a person's feelings or reactions either a state of emotional excitement, grief or joy, for instance in the picture above the individual he is in a state of remorse and definitely uneasy.

Low

The direction and height from which the camera takes the scene.  low angle shot places camera below the character, exaggerating his or her importance or their authority in this particular situation.

Eye-level

Directly involves the audience, brings the actor/actress on the same level as the viewer. For my own trailer these type of shots will be used frequently as the target audience is similar age and social category of the actors and actresses.

Canted

An effect that can be used to unease the viewer, for example in this particular photograph this angle may be used to warn the audience of this gang of young people.

Birds Eye View
Can be used as an establishing shot. The audience can gain an understanding of the setting
