Character Research
In the critical perspective side of the course (exam) I personally decided to look how British Africans are presented in the media; as this links very well with my coursework as this particular social group is presented in my trailer.

Teamwork
The main difference between A2 and AS level is working as a team. I am working with my fellow class mate Priscilla and before starting the coursework we have divided the work load using a graph. Some elements we will work together and the evaluation questions will be done seperately.
The scans show that I will do the Poster and Priscilla would do the magazine cover. We did the trailer together testing teamwork.

Target Audience
The type of film that my group has decided to create is surrounding youth culture in London today. And it tries to show the public some of the experiences that some people go through. Our main target audience is the young and youthful across the country and internationally. I feel that this group will relate more to the story. It is key that the mise en scene is on point for the target audience to relate. Below is a collage to try and capture our set audience:
Location
To add to the authenticity and quality of our film trailer. The location must match the genre of our film. My partner and I chose Thamesemead (London) as it in close reach for both of us and our actors and actresses. This same location was used for a film called A Clockwork Orange, which involves violent imagery and youth gangs. More recently is the location for a British drama series- Misfits which is centred around a group of young offenders. Both of which relates to type of film in some way as the focus on individual(s) that are seen as a threat to society.
Also with this location there are various interesting shots and camera angles that can be taken we can be included in our trailer.

Film Message
Our film portrays presents gun and knife crime culture that is evident in the UK at the moment. There has been a huge increase in the amount of anti-social behaviour in London and gang culture, and it is evident that it is a hot storming topic in the London at the moment. After the 2011 London riots, there has been an increase in the amount of exposure in the activity of youth gun and knife crime. In this crucial time, our trailer is very essential in bringing people knowledge and insight into youth and gun crime. The media already has paid much attention to this issue for example BBC Three: Reggie Yates and Teen Gangs.
Plot
Over a series of planning sessions we decided to name the film - Affliction, a name I feel that goes well with the original idea. As we were advised before making the original trailer we should make up the entire storyline of the film. By doing this it will help us know the exact sections to advertise without giving the storyline away to the audience. Based on a true story however with a twist. There is a feud between two gang of girls but things get worse as a series of events leads to a stabbing killing a memeber of one of the groups. The audience get to know this individual and like her as a character so are startled when this eventually happens and empathise with the cast.

Synopsis
For my A2 coursework I have decided to create my own film trailer with a partner in my class- Priscilla. In correspondence with the people we have available and also the types of settings which are accessible we decided to go for a drama. Set in Thamesmead which is local to the both of us. I know that this is an area that has a number of films and series shot there. We have also decieded to base it on a true story.
Starting the planing process we looked a trailers that fitted the genre of what we were trying to create, from this we could use techniques used in the watched trailers such as the type of colours, theme of music and shots. We looked at the following: Kidulthood, Anuvahood and Shank.
Out of three I did prefer Skank, I found that it was doable. The action was very fast and fitted well with the sound track and worked effectively as a selling product. Kidulthood and Anuvahood required a script and ensuring that people featured in the trailer could act the set appropriately. In the case of these two trailers the words used are selling the film. Throughout the planning process we will be looking at trailers like these in more detail.
Many of our trailer conventions will come from this particular trailer.
To futher help with the planning of the trailer as a group we created a mind map to get all our ideas down which will develop throughout the process:

Film ideas
To make our film product to be the best standard, we need to ensure that our actors are available and play the parts that they are required to act at a believable quality. Location of the film is also important and will be featured in our group theatrical poster and throughout our trailer. My partner and I had think of what we had available before thinking of a plot or storyline.
After this process we decided to create a gritty drama based in the streets of London. Before finalising ideas we brain stormed places we could use, types and people and imagery we could relate to our piece of work. Through completing this stage of work I personally felt that we established various colours and themes that we could use in our own trailer.

General Research
Before getting into groups for the academic year I did some general research on Teaser Trailers films, as this was the first time in the course where I was producing moving images, The following power point specifically looks at the genre of Horror. I feel that this exercise would be useful with what ever genre of film that I decide to do.
