Costumes

To make a character complete a character's clothing and make-up are very important factors. Not only do they need to act the part they need to look the part . Our characters are young, so they need modern stylish clothing so they can appeal to the target audience. At the same time they are in particular friendship groups as well as there own individual personalities. Having certain types of clothing makes them different but the same time similar to other members of their group.

We took inspiration from a classic West Side Story which is also about two gangs.


 

As you can see in the photograph above each character has a this type of jacket but on a different design or colour. This is really showcasing each individual personality. This technique in a number of films. The reason why it is the same type of jacket is that they live in the same neighbourhood and know the same type of people so in that aspect all the main characters are similar. 

As well as going well with the jackets this item of clothing is also very practical when moving to our various shooting locations.

Again this is an practical item of clothing. They also go well with the theme and setting of the film. It is set in a quite rough neighbourhood, and based on two rival gangs and boots are a protective footwear.
